Derby strategy receives FT recognition

Derby has been named third best small European city 2020/21 for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) strategy in the prestigious Financial Times' fDi European Cities and Regions of the Future 2020/21 rankings.

Derby is one of only two UK cities to make the top ten, behind Reykjavik, Iceland and Debrechen, Hungary, having competed with cities across Europe.

Marketing Derby's FDI strategy is heavily influenced by Derby's global facing economy with industry giants, including Bondholders Rolls-Royce, Bombardier and Toyota UK, and their extensive supply chains, based here.

Last year, the organisation held its first Embassy in China attended by 250 guests.

John Forkin, Managing Director of Marketing Derby commented: “This recognition showcases Derby as a truly global business city. With a highly skilled workforce, investment in infrastructure and public-private partnerships, which support new businesses and investors into the city, Derby is an attractive proposition for foreign direct investment.”
