Local Acts invited to take part in St George’s Day Parade

Derby LIVE would like to invite local acts, community groups, dance groups and performers to apply to take part in this year’s St George’s Day parade.

This year’s St George’s Day celebrations, always enjoyed by local families and friends, will take place on Saturday 20 April, taking over Derby City Centre between 11am and 4pm.

As in previous years, the event will celebrate Merrie Olde England, with folk dancing and music, a craft fair, a parade, and lots of English eccentricity.

Derby LIVE will once again be joined by local friends and favourites, with the full programme for the event to be announced soon.

Councillor Alan Grimadell, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “The St George’s Day celebrations are a treasured event in the Derby calendar and we are looking forward to another fantastic event again this year. There is a wealth of talent in Derby and we want groups to come forward to help us celebrate England and its rich history, to make this our most memorable year yet.”

Those interested in taking part should be available between 11am and 12.30pm on Saturday 20 April and should apply by contacting Mick Emerson at Michael.Emerson@derby.gov.uk in Derby LIVE’s Outdoor Events team or by calling 01332 640848.
