Derby Book Festival, 3 – 11 June 2016

The second Derby Book Festival features over 70 exciting events celebrating the joy of books and reading for all ages and interests, with great writers, poets, historians, politicians, illustrators, storytellers and musicians.  There’s something for everyone with topics ranging from cycling to cricket, railways to real ale and birding to board games!   

Highlights of this year’s Festival include the Opening Event with the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy plus bestselling authors Tracy Chevalier, Louis de Bernières, Joan Bakewell, actor and writer Simon Callow, broadcaster Stuart Maconie, historical novelist Alison Weir, Booker-shortlisted author Sunjeev Sahota, debut author Joanna Cannon, David Lindo, aka The Urban Birder and BBC Radio 4’s James Naughtie.  

This year’s programme includes an expanded children and families’ programme with author Andy Cope and ‘Spydog’, illustration workshops and the Bringing Books to Life event in the Market Place with storytelling, street theatre, pavement art, mural painting and cartoon drawing.
