City Centre BIDs Support Derby Ram Trail 2021

Derby’s two Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have announced that they will take a lead role in this summer’s Derby Ram Trail across the city centre.

Rescheduled from last summer, The Derby Ram Trail is being brought to the city by Derby Museums, in partnership with Wild in Art and is an amazing public art sculpture event with 30 individually painted 5ft tall Rams, threading through the city centre between May 27 and August 22.

The Cathedral Quarter BID are the presenting partner and St Peters Quarter BID are the trail partner for the project.

The BIDs support reflects the positive impact that the trail will have on the two areas where the majority of the sculptures will be situated.

In a joint statement, Martin Langsdale MBE, chair of the Cathedral Quarter BID and Helen Wathall MBE, chair of St Peters Quarter BID said: “The Derby Ram Trail 2021 will bring some much-needed colour, pride and sense of community to the city centre this summer and we are delighted to be supporting this initiative.

“Although it is important to encourage people back into the city centre once restrictions are lifted, we have been particularly keen to ensure the continued safety of everyone who works, lives and visits the Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter.

“The Derby Ram Trail will be a popular attraction and has been designed so that social distancing can be maintained and each Ram is also coated in antimicrobial varnish with regular cleaning taking place to allow for safe photography opportunities by the public.

“Businesses in the BID areas are very much looking forward to the Derby Ram Trail this summer and we hope that the auction at the end will raise significant funds for the Derby Museums’ Endowment fund.”
