Chesterfield Canal – Young Photographer competition

Do you love taking great photographs? Are you under 16? If so, here’s your chance to win some great prizes from your hobby.

The prizes will include a 20 x 16 inch canvas print of your photo donated by Dents Photo, trip boat vouchers donated by the Chesterfield Canal Trust, a studio shoot voucher donated by Photogenix and a canal trip DVD

The Derbyshire County Council Countryside Service is running a competition for the whole of August. All you have to do is take a stunning photograph of the Chesterfield Canal. This could be a view of the canal, or some wildlife, or a boat, or canoeists – there are endless possibilities. The winner will be decided by public vote.

Entry forms are available from Tapton Lock Visitor Centre which is just off the Tesco roundabout. The closing date is 31st August.

From 1st to 13th September, all the entries will be displayed at Tapton Lock Visitor Centre. Members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite photograph. The one that gets the most votes will win.

The winner will be announced at the Tapton Lock Celebration event on Saturday 19th September.

If you need some tips for taking better photos, you could join a guide on 29th July or 25th or 29th August at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. for a short walk on the canal and learn how to make the most of your camera. £2 for each Young Photographer. Please call 01629 533020 to book a place or ask for further details.
