New paintings of Derbyshire by Mark Preston

We have a new group of paintings in the gallery by Mark Preston. These are all of Derbyshire, painted en plein air throughout 2019, reflecting the seasonal diversity of the Derbyshire Peak District.

Mark usually works in situ, spending very little time painting in his studio. Influenced by the great English painter John Constable, Mark has been known to remain out of doors at his easel from dawn until dusk working directly from nature, whatever the weather.

Launch of Double Life Novel by Derbyshire Based Novelist Narvel Annable

It is 1995.  A long serving history master, a shell of his former self, is alone in an empty classroom in a rough North Nottinghamshire comprehensive school in an ultra conservative colliery town.  He is recovering from a severe breakdown which destroyed his credibility and confidence leaving him depressed and disorientated.  Some pupils and staff had turned this sad case into an object of fun inflicting humiliating hurtful episodes.  A steady torturous drip made his position untenable.  He was unable to discharge professional duties.  Effectively, gay hate had terminated a teaching career.

Spend Christmas with the Lost Boys

No, not at our home on Christmas Day, that would be weird. We don't even live together, we are not Bert and Ernie. We'd love to see you at one of our Christmas shows though - whether that's a night of interactive entertainment and beautiful food in a unique take on ‘A Christmas Carol’, another classic Dickens tale in Oliver with a Twist or a visit to the beautiful Sudbury Hall for a breakfast promenade performance of House Trap, a comedy adventure for all the family.
