The Art of Remembering 2020 - An exhibition of children’s art work and the positives to come from 2020 lockdown.

Erewash Borough Council wishes to invite expressions of interest from a professional creative to develop and support instalment of a temporary exhibition for the Erewash community at Erewash Museum in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Timetable – this is a time critical commission and requires community engagement (reach) and exhibition instalment by w/c 14th December

Arts Derbyshire - A Necklace of Stars

Following on from the success of the first phase of A Necklace of Stars, we are looking for older adults who are housebound (aged 65+) from across Derbyshire to join us in a creative writing and embroidery project.

Arts Derbyshire is running a remote embroidery and creative writing project where participants receive weekly* one to one phone calls with artists ‘arthur + martha’. The artists will guide people through the process of creating beautiful embroidered stars or creative writing themed around lullabies, for free.

New retailers to hatch at intu Derby

Bondholder intu Derby is relaunching its Hatch initiative, giving small businesses from across the region the chance of winning free retail space.

The potentially life-changing prize, offered in association with Revo, includes a store within the shopping centre for a period of six weeks, completely rent free.

trentbarton steps up the support

Bondholder trentbarton is gearing up for the reopening of schools and colleges, and providing services for more people returning to work and beginning to socialise, by making its most significant return to pre-COVID levels of bus services from Sunday (August 23).

Its customer numbers are already nearly 50 per cent of pre-COVID levels and trentbarton is bringing back staff to be there for when more people want to travel.

Site extension at Toyota

Work is underway on an extension at Bondholder Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK's plant at Burnaston which will allow it to store an extra 3,500 vehicles on site.

The extension of its despatch yard to cover 15 acres, sited next to the plant's solar farm, will store newly made cars ahead of export to European dealerships.

Online Enrolment At Derby College Group

New students planning to join Derby College Group (DCG) in September will be able to enrol remotely for the first time this year – making the process quicker and easier for school leavers and adult learners alike.

Online enrolment for full time and part time study programmes officially starts on GCSE results day – August 20 through the website www.derby-college.ac.uk 

Safe and Sound Gains University of Derby Recognition

Local specialist charity Safe and Sound’s commitment to supporting the employability of University of Derby students has been officially recognised with two prestigious awards.

Safe and Sound supports children and young people across Derbyshire who are victims of or at risk of child exploitation as well as supporting their families and raising public awareness of the issues.

Support your Orchestra

Derby-based orchestra of the East Midlands, Sinfonia Viva, is appealing for support from its fans.

Sinfonia Viva is asking concert ‘goers’ who watch the Hannells Darley Park “At Home” virtual concert on Sunday August 30 to donate the usual price of the ticket (£5), or whatever people can afford, to help secure the Orchestra’s future.

The virtual concert is being provided and funded by Derby City Council free of charge this year and is available online from 6pm via BBC Radio Derby’s Facebook LIVE and iplayer and on BBC Radio Derby.

Entrepreneurial Business Chooses Safe and Sound For Seasonal Support

Colleague Box – a new business launched by an entrepreneurial Derby couple during lockdown – have chosen Safe and Sound as its charity partner for their next personalised gifts campaign.

Adam and Natalie Bamford launched Colleague Box, a letterbox gift company, as the coronavirus pandemic was at its peak. 

They have since been inundated with orders from companies wanting to cheer up remote worker and then welcome furloughed staff back to the workplace with tasty treats and personal messages delivered through the post.
