Why HeadHigh event is Fundamental in tackling mental health issues

A FREE festival of food, music and fun for all the family is being held in Derby city centre to raise awareness of mental health issues and tackle the taboos surrounding the illness.

Mental health support CIC HeadHigh is staging its annual Fundamental event on July 8, in Cathedral Green, with a stage for live performances, sporting activities and stalls run by local groups.

Darley Abbey gin is so uncommonly good it’s available in Parliament

A Derbyshire gin manufacturer has brought a new kind of order to the House of Commons after its locally brewed tipple went on sale to thirsty MPs.

The Darley Abbey Distillery’s Uncommon Thread is now being served in Strangers’ Bar, in Parliament, where it is being enjoyed by MPs, Government ministers and their guests.

The juniper-led gin was created by Nichol and Andy Malia-Barlow, owners of the Darley Abbey Wine Bar and the Cottonworks restaurant, with friend Clare Lamert who has worked in the spirits and Champagne industry for several years.

Hopton Hall Month of Art

Visit Hopton Hall, it’s rose gardens and café during the Month of Art from Saturday 1st July. The garden is open from 10:30 - 16:00 every Thursday to Sunday. Along with the 2km rose garden walk, Café Impromptu, part of the same group as Hopton Hall, has a 75 seat restaurant open in the grounds.

Local tourism businesses take top spots at VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023

Five tourism businesses from across the Peak District and Derbyshire are celebrating success after winning coveted accolades – including two prestigious Gold awards – at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023.

The finalists competed against hundreds of tourism businesses from across the country to reach the awards ceremony which was hosted by TV presenter Alex Polizzi at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter on Wednesday 7 June.

Croots Farm Shop throws open its gates for Open Farm Sunday on 11th June

Popular Derbyshire farm shop Croots will be opening the gates to the farm on Sunday 11th June as part of a nationwide event to showcase British farming.

LEAF Open Farm Sunday is the farming industry’s national open day, with hundreds of farms throwing open their gates to give the public the chance to find out more about where their food comes from.

Among them is Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road near Duffield - the home of the award-winning Croots Farm Shop.
