Playwright Kevin Fegan is researching a community play for Belper in 2022, which will take place at sites in and around the town centre.
Kevin is looking for people willing to share their stories, characters and ideas about Belper and the surrounding area. These can be historical or contemporary, factual or fictional.
“A community play should be inspired by interesting stories and characters. I know from experience the material is always out there in a community, if people are willing to share with me.”
Five former Derby College Group (DCG) level 3 Welding students saw off strong competition to secure apprenticeships with leading power systems company Doosan Babcock.
Around 500 students nationally applied to the coveted training scheme but the Derby College students, all from the same course in Ilkeston, are among only 20 to get a place.
They are spending their first year at Doosan’s national welding school in Tipton in the West Midlands where they are honing their welding skills before going off on site.

It was clear that an enormous amount of care had indeed gone into the programming and delivery of this event with a wealth of stirring, motivational and inspiring presentations and speakers.

Thriving Communities Social Prescribing Projects Announced
Following the successful 3D virtual presentation of FORMAT21 International Photography Festival, selected exhibitions will be shown across Derby in the city’s cultural institutions and retail spaces.

Three students at Derby College Group’s Broomfield Hall land-based and leisure college in Morley have launched a campaign to reduce pollution in the River Derwent.
The campaign is part of the ‘My World My Home’ annual environmental leadership programme for young people, which is supported by Friends of the Earth.
