Derby Well Re-dressed Commissioned Artists Unveiled

Five local artists have been selected to create bespoke work that will take centre stage in a unique street arts trail around Derby city centre from Friday September 25 to Sunday September 27.

Derby Well Re-Dressed has been inspired by Derbyshire’s unique and ancient Well Dressing festivals which originated as indicators of clean water during the Plague in the 17th century.

The street arts trail will take place over the weekend that should have been the annual Derby Festé which has been cancelled due to Government guidance around mass gatherings.

World-class Derbyshire schools merge

Two prestigious Derbyshire schools, Foremarke Hall and Repton School, have merged, forming Bondholder Repton.

The two institutions have been brought together into a single entity to create one purposeful, integrated educational journey from 3 to 18, characterised throughout by the two Schools’ existing hallmarks of academic rigour, first-class pastoral care, sporting excellence, individual opportunity, personal development and a commitment to a full boarding ethos.

DCG Student’s University Future Confirmed

After a tense week of uncertainty, Derby College Group A level student Sukbhir Singh (18) from Peartree in Derby has received official confirmation that he has secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study Engineering.

Sukhbir, who was born in India and came to the UK from Italy two years ago, was recommended by College teachers to achieve A* grades in Physics, Maths and Further Maths. 

Results Day Celebrations

Despite the confusion and uncertainty around grades, many students are celebrating their success:

Twins Grace and Millie Lathwell (18) from Mickleover in Derby both decided to study the same A levels at JWC after John Port School because they were keen to study Criminology.

Safe and Sound Gains University of Derby Recognition

Local specialist charity Safe and Sound’s commitment to supporting the employability of University of Derby students has been officially recognised with two prestigious awards.

Safe and Sound supports children and young people across Derbyshire who are victims of or at risk of child exploitation as well as supporting their families and raising public awareness of the issues.

Safe and Sound Supports NCS Programme

Safe and Sound, the Derbyshire based child exploitation charity, has supported this summer’s NCS programme with a series of awareness raising sessions on the issue for young people.

Safe and Sound supports children and young people across Derbyshire who are victims of or at risk of child exploitation which includes online grooming, sexual exploitation, County Lines, Modern Slavery and trafficking as well as supporting their families and raising awareness of the issues in local communities.
