Free night club night for adults with learning difficulties

Due to the success of our first club night we have decide to organise another one and aim to run them quarterly.

 Our next club night is on

21st of August 2017

7pm-10pm

Club HQ 3-5 High Street East, Glossop.

Free all welcome

The clubnight is organised by 'Life you choose' an arts and multimedia group for adults with learning difficulties. Members of life you choose have put the music together and learnt how to used DJ software and equipment, so will be DJs on the night.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF HISTORIC AREA GOES ON SHOW

An exhibition depicting the past, present and future of an historic part of Derby’s St Peters Quarter will be held at St Peter’s Church on Friday June 23 from 6pm – followed by a tour of premises across the area.

The free exhibition has been organised by Derby City Council under the Townscape Heritage Initiative which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

New Head Chef Joins Engine Shed Restaurant

Derby College has appointed Mark Hadfield as Head Chef of commercial operations at the Engine Shed restaurant at the Roundhouse campus in Pride Park.

Mark learnt his trade at Wilmorton College, which is now part of Derby College, and has since worked in a wide range of fine dining restaurants.

Record Total for JWC Rag Week

Students and staff at Derby College’s Joseph Wright Centre have raised a record £1,121 for three charities at their annual RAG week.

A wide range of competitions and activities were organised throughout the week and the money raised has been split between local charity Children First Derby, Cancer Research UK and Barnardo’s.

Déda Announces New Youth Company

Déda is launching a new youth performance company at its Derby studios as part of its creative focus to bring together and develop dance, contemporary circus and outdoor work.

A small group of young people have already joined a preliminary Youth Dance and Circus Company based at Déda.

They performed a short piece which combined contemporary dance with aerial and acrobatic skills in front of a wide range of arts professionals who recently met at Déda to discuss the way forward in fusing the art forms.

MS Show Garden Wins Silver Merit

Horticulture staff and students at Derby College have won an award for the second year running at the prestigious BBC Gardeners World Live show at the NEC.

The team, based at the College’s Broomfield Hall land-based campus, again teamed up with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Derby and District Group to design and build an entry for BBC Gardener’s World Live 2017 – following their resounding success in last year’s show.

The show celebrates its 50th anniversary - coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Derby Branch of the MS Society.
