Participants will be able to learn exploratory data analysis allowing them to evaluate the characteristics of a dataset through statistical and visualisation techniques. Also, the course will explain data pre-processing approaches for improving data quality to enable variables used in feature engineering and prediction models.

 

 

Training provider for the Construction Skills Hub appointed

Chesterfield College and the University of Derby have been appointed as the training provider for the new Construction Skills Hub in Mastin Moor, which is set to provide specialist training for thousands of learners as part of the Staveley Town Deal.

The innovative Construction Skills Hub will provide a practical platform for construction training, careers activity and work experience on a live construction site in Mastin Moor.

Over ten years, the hub aims to provide training, careers insights, and work experience for over 5,000 learners.

Wathall’s Activity Book Helps People Navigate Their Grief Journey

Derby’s longest established independent funeral directors have published new book to help adults come to terms with losing a loved one.

The activity book entitled ‘Missing You’ was written by Wathall’s bereavement support coordinator and qualified counsellor Fay Bloor, and illustrated by University of Derby graduate and freelance illustrator Michael Ashley.

Fay and Michael first collaborated to create ‘Missing Someone Special – working your way through loss’, which was published last year, aimed at children and young people who have suffered a bereavement.

Derby Dad Launches Derventio’s Charity Appeal After It Helped Him Get Back On His Feet, With £49.98 Boots

A Derby dad who has been helped back on his feet by a charitable fund which bought him a pair of steel-capped boots is urging businesses and individuals to lend their support so others can also benefit.

Gary Turnbull, a 32-year-old dad from Derby, is one of more than 130 people to have been helped this year by Sylvester’s Fund, a charitable pot of money managed by Derventio Housing Trust, based in Boyer Street.
