Attend a Cultural Awareness Event

The Chesterfield Equality and Diversity Forum and Chesterfield Borough Council invite you to attend a Cultural Awareness event in January 2023.

Hosted by The Asian Association of Chesterfield and North Derbyshire, the Cultural Awareness Event will take place on 12 January 2023 from 10am to 2pm in the Town Hall in Chesterfield.

Attendees will join The Asian Association to discuss their culture and the contributions they make to the local community, as well as joining a myth busting session.

Council takes next step to safeguard the future of Chesterfield’s historic Tapton House

Proposals to safeguard the future of Chesterfield’s historic Tapton House – ensuring the Grade-II* listed building can be restored and brought back into beneficial use – have been considered by Chesterfield Borough Council.

A sympathetic scheme which would see the building restored and converted for residential accommodation, together with a commitment to retain the parkland for public use and create visitor access to part of the Georgian mansion, was chosen as the preferred option by the council’s Cabinet on Tuesday (13 December).

Amid plummeting UK temperatures, a Derbyshire company helping ward off coughs and sniffles by making vitamins is caring for its own employees with free hot meals and two extra winter payments during the coldest months of the year.

Employees at IVC Brunel Healthcare in Swadlincote are currently busy helping boost the nation’s immune systems by making millions of vitamin D tablets as well as hundreds of other formulations including echinacea to help stave off colds, as part of its overall production of four and a half billion tablets a year.

‘Super team’ at Derby College Nursery Receive “Outstanding’ Ofsted Praise

Derby College’s nursery Little Explorers, based at the Broomfield Hall campus in Morley, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors in all areas of its work.

 

The inspection, which took place in November, looked at four key areas – effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of education; personal development and behaviour and attitudes – all of which were judged as ‘Outstanding’.

Pump Room hosts Fringe Christmas party!

Buxton Festival Fringe (July 5-23 2023) celebrated being open for entries at a lively Christmas party on December 9th. The event was held at the prestigious Buxton Pump Room, a Fringe venue, and featured a Derbyshire Village Carols singalong led by Kaleidoscope Choir’s Carol and Ian Bowns. Party food and drinks plus a bumper raffle generously supported by Buxton shops and businesses added to the festive fun.
