This all women play was inspired by the munition women of Silvertown, London during the First World War, Out of the Cage tells the story of women’s courage, dignity and hope, fired in the crucible of war.
Early spring 1916, before the slaughter of the Somme, munitionettes all over London met in secret to decide the fate of thousands of fellow co-workers. Their choice was simple: stand up to the belligerent attitude of male workers and an intractable government or forever be seen as second-class citizens of the Empire.
Tideswell Community Players present Gail Young's Bothered and Bewildered in the magnificent surroundings of St John's Church, Tideswell from Thursday 25th October – Saturday 27th October.
It is a comedy drama about one woman's struggle with Alzheimer's. The play, directed by Rob Puckett, follows Irene and her two daughters Louise and Beth as the girls lose their mum in spirit but not in body.
A play about memory, loss and love by the writer of Cheshire Cats, very successfully performed by TCP a few years ago.

As part of this years Wirksworth Festival Performance Programme, Town Hall Events, on
Thursday the 20th of September, HILL, the story of One Derbyshire Hill will be re-told with a
difference! HILL, was exhibited at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery earlier this year, attracting
thousands of visitors in record breaking numbers. Because of this response, the entire story of a
working Derbyshire Hill is moving to London Town early next year to be exhibited at the
Copeland Gallery in Peckham, opening on the 21st of February 2019. But now is your chance to
Dawn Turner is an Ilkeston based artist who was brought up in, and has strong family ties to, the area. She works with local schools and community groups, although her studio practice is primarily in glass.
Dawn first explored the technique of fusing about twelve years ago and has been hooked on glass ever since. She loves to share her enthusiasm for glass through making, exhibiting, learning and teaching.
