Derby College Group Celebrates Peak Performers

Derby College Group’s annual Peak Awards was a double celebration this year. As well as students from colleges across the group receiving awards in recognition of their hard work and achievements, DCG marked the 10th anniversary of the opening of the historic Roundhouse.

Call out for Eagle Engine stories for the new Museum of Making

In September 2020 Derby Museums will open the new Museum of Making in Derby featuring, at its heart, some astonishing objects that have shaped the world in which we live. One of the stand-out objects is the Eagle Engine, which helped to power the first transatlantic flight by Alcock and Brown 100 years ago on June 14th and 15th 1919.

Special Opening Night at New Mills Art Theatre!

Opening nights are always special – but on Friday, 21st June, the performance of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown at New Mills Art Theatre, marks the first musical to be produced on the Art Theatre stage since the wonderful refurbishment of the auditorium, featuring the golden velvet seats gifted from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

How we abuse the natural environment will soon be viewed with the same kind of horror now reserved for slavery or child labour, explains one of the nation’s foremost nature writers.

Mark Cocker, whose last book Our Place was a call for a revolution in the way we protect our natural world, is bringing together fellow writers at Buxton International Festival to consider how literature can change attitudes towards the environment in the same way that Charles Dickens’ novels once challenged Victorian values.
