Panto is back at New Mills Art Theatre

Oh no it isn’t, Oh Yes It Is! – The Friends of New Mills Art Theatre are so pleased to be able to announce their next pantomime is Cinderella – probably the best panto story of all time.

After the production was sadly postponed last year, they have chosen the classic Cinderella story, script by Alan P Frayn, that is packed with all the wonderful panto characters, jokes and slapstick business, putting pantomime back where it belongs – in its home, on the Art Theatre stage in January and February 2022.

This morning, Creative Industries Federation and Creative England have jointly published our major new report, The UK Creative Industries: unleashing the power and potential of creativity. It is the first publication from us as the Creative UK Group and we're really excited to share it with you.  Alongside this, we have launched our new member-led campaign,  #WeAreCreative.  

Summer Reading Challenge

Pack your bags, we’re headed for Wilderville! It’s a pretty cool place, but there are lots of things that the Wild World Heroes can do to make their town even better for the people and animals that live there

This year’s challenge is “Wild World Heroes” and will begin on Saturday 10th July 2021, running throughout the summer holidays until Saturday 11th September. All our libraries will be taking part!

 

Derby Ram Trail releases tickets for the Farewell Weekend and end of trail Auction

The Derby Ram Trail has been creating a buzz across the city since it launched at the end of May. Now, with all the excitement it has created you could have the opportunity to own your very own unique work of art.

With just over six weeks to go, serious bidders are invited to register their interest for the end of trail auction, taking place in the prestigious Italian Mill in the newly opened Museum of Making.

Free Digital Concert Marks Live Dates Announcement

Derby-based Sinfonia Viva, the East Midlands’ only professional orchestra, has released a free online concert to thank the public and partners for their support during the pandemic ahead of their return to live music.

The free online concert was filmed at Wyastone Concert Hall in Monmouth last month and is led from the violin by Sophie Rosa.

Returning soon to Dronfield Hall Barn: Kid's craft activities

We're pleased to announce that our popular kid's craft activities will be returning to the Barn this summer, beginning Thursday 5th August! 

Get creative and beat the summer holiday boredom with the help of our volunteers, who will be running the activities every Thursday from 10am-3pm. You can get involved for just £2.50 per child, but please note that children must be accompanied by an adult. Turn up on the day, with no pre-booking required.

New Perspectives: The Festival of Small Things

Derbyshire acclaimed photographer Tony Fisher joins artist Fi Marks in an intimate exhibition, called Touch. Hold a series of original Polaroids taken by the photographer and artist that tells a story.

Buxton International Festival is about to begin!

It’s been a long wait but we’re delighted to open our venue doors tomorrow and welcome everyone to Buxton for seventeen days of opera, music and books! 

This year, the opera companies have filmed special videos to share insights into their productions, with personal contributions from creatives. Some of the talks also feature cast members and rehearsal footage.
