Buxton Fringe announces Pump Room Xmas party!

Buxton Fringe has announced that its open-to-all Christmas Party will be held at Buxton’s historic Pump Room opposite the Crescent this year.

The fun event will be held on Friday December 9 from 7 to 9.30pm and will offer a chance to sing along to Derbyshire Village Carols led by Kaleidoscope Choir leader Carol Bowns. There will also be a pay bar, party food and a raffle (please bring cash!).

JINGLE BELL TIME! A Christmassy mix of carols and modern songs

Buxton’s biggest contemporary music choir perform our first Christmas Concert. After two sell-out Fringe Festival concerts our 60 singers are back. We will showcase a mix of songs including musical theatre; pop; feel-good songs and, of course, carols. A great way to feel Christmassy! Come along, enjoy listening and join in some of those carols if you wish.

Derby Book Festival: We couldn't resist sneaking in one more event before Christmas!

We think that this one will be popular so please don't delay booking your tickets. They go on sale today (Friday 18th November) at 10am.

We are really excited about this one as we know how popular politics is as a genre in Derby. And there has been no bigger political story in 2022.

Wathall’s Memorial Service Gives Families Time to Remember Loved Ones

A special early evening Service of Remembrance and Hope will be held at Derby Cathedral on Thursday December 8, organised by family-owned funeral directors, Wathall’s.

Wathall’s, which is Derby’s longest established independent funeral directors, has organised the memorial service since 2008 - inviting families who have lost loved ones during this and past years.

They will be joined by members of Dandelions Bereavement Support groups in Derby and Ashbourne as well as representatives from local churches, charities, hospitals and nursing homes.

Thousands turn out for Derby’s Christmas Lights Switch-On

Saturday's Christmas Light Switch-On event in Derby city centre was a huge success, drawing an estimated crowd of 5,000 people. Hosted by Smooth Radio breakfast presenter Gareth Evans, the afternoon saw a multitude of local talent on stage and in a lantern parade led through the city centre.

Join us for a great Christmas in Chesterfield

Chesterfield Borough Council is joining forces with Destination Chesterfield again this year to bring you a great selection of events and activities to enjoy in our town.

The Christmas in Chesterfield Campaign, called Everything for the Perfect Christmas, will run from Monday 14 November to 4 January 2023 and has been designed to include something for everyone.

Councillor Kate Sarvent, cabinet member for town centres and visitor economy, said: “There is lots to get involved in around Chesterfield throughout the festive season.
