Pump Room Live Returns to Raise the Roof with Free Weekend of Music

Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust are delighted to announce that Pump Room Live will return with a weekend of free daytime music performed on the Pump Room roof on the 21 and 22 September. The weekend has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England who are funding a programme of arts events and workshops inspired by the town’s water from September to January 2020.

Three agoraphobic women have left their houses for the first time in years to go to a jumble sale organised by their social workers. But as the afternoon progresses, the distinction between the social workers and the women becomes less and less clear.  This play is the story of 5 women bound together by their fears and seeking a solution to make their lives better.

The Small Painting Exhibition will end soon. Just in case you didn't get to see it, the show includes new paintings by South African born artist Este MacLeod as well as other outstanding work.

Brochures are also being distributed across the town and further afield over the next couple of weeks. They can be found in most shops and businesses, info centres and libraries.

New Mills Festival is run entirely by volunteers who work all year round to raise the funds needed to make the festival happen. All donations are most gratefully received!

Buxton Fringe40 Announces Awards for 2019

The biggest and longest ever Buxton Festival Fringe held its eagerly-awaited Awards Ceremony at The Green Man Gallery on Sunday July 21.

2019 has seen the Fringe celebrating 40 years and chair of the trustees Keith Savage said it had been an exceptional year, thanking the performers, committee members, venues, supporters and financial backers, including sponsor The University of Derby, who had made the festival possible.

We are delighted to be exhibiting the work of Susan Brown, the Yorkshire artists renowned for her paintings of European cities. 

 

'I have been inspired for much of my working life, both in painting and designing, by two symbols: the circle and the line. I believe that these two symbols hold what I can only describe as a sort of DNA of visual references, a set of parts, representing for me the continuum and the measure of life.
