Writing for Wellbeing workshop with Leonie Martin. Saturday 2nd November 10:30 - 12:30 at Chesterfield Library

Try Writing for Wellbeing at Chesterfield Library. Using a series of fun and engaging prompts, you’ll be encouraged to unlock your imagination and put pen to paper. Working within a safe and respectful space, therapeutic writing can open the door to new voices, ideas and points of view that widen and deepen our own perspective, as well as offering a sense of achievement. No previous knowledge or experience of creative writing is needed; writers of all levels of experience are welcome. You should be aged 18 years and above. All writing materials will be provided. 
 

Take a look at the Erewash Festival of Light programme

Erewash Festival of Light began in 2006. The annual programme includes free festivals, events and activities marking a range of traditional and culturally diverse celebrations. For our 2019-2020 programme these will be Diwali, Christmas, Winter Solstice and Chinese New Year.
Since it began, over 20 000 people have taken part in creative workshops and public events, making artwork for festivals and displays, or simply coming along to enjoy.

Tom Dale Company Presents Step Sonic: Parts 1 & 2

Digital soundscapes triggered by motion

The worlds of electronic dance music and contemporary dance collide in choreographer Tom Dale’s exciting new touring programme Step Sonic which commences its inaugural tour of the UK from 17 October 2019. Tom Dale Company will be performing at Déda Thursday 17 and Friday 18 October 7.30pm.

We welcome Angela Topping as our guest poet to recite poems from her latest collection

“The Five Petals of Elderflower”

Poets from Ashbourne Writers Group will recite their own poems and AWG's Arnie Rainbow will perform some of his own songs. We will also be joined by an excellent group of musicians, playing a selection of English and Irish music. “Green Road” are resident at Smith’s Tavern: if you’ve seen them, you’ll know what fantastic music they make.

 

Poetry Workshop Saturday 16th November 2.30pm until 4.30pm St. Oswald’s Church Centre, Ashbourne

Angela Topping is a widely published professional poet who has been leading workshops with all age groups since 1988. In this two hour workshop, you will, following a warm-up exercise, write at least two poems, using Angela’s original bespoke exercises, and receive feedback to help you take them to the next level. Angela is known for her ability to encourage and nurture others, with her know-how and warm personality.

Cost of the Workshop is £12 per person, including refreshments.

Top opera star to sing at Kinder Choirs ‘Bux Fizz!’

One of Buxton’s best loved performers, mezzo soprano Yvonne Howard, is teaming up with Kinder Choirs of the High Peak, at a concert being held at St John’s Church, Buxton, on Saturday 19th October at 7.30pm.

The ‘Bux Fizz!’ event will showcase a mix of classics and popular music so is certain to appeal to a wide variety of tastes .
