BURBAGE ART GROUP LOOKS FOR NEW MEMBERS

Following its successful Buxton Fringe exhibition enjoyed by over 60 visitors, Burbage Art Group is preparing for its autumn season and hoping to attract new members.

The classes run in school terms starting on Wednesday September 7th at the Burbage Institute, Nursery Lane, Buxton from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. Organiser Rachel Slaney explains: “There is no formal course - people tend to bring their own projects and materials - but September is a great time to start when everything feels new and people are rested and inspired from their summer holidays.”

Rachel is always on hand to help and the friendly pay-as-you-go classes are very affordable at just £5 per session. “We are always happy to see new members whether it is more practiced artists or complete beginners, and with a tea break in the middle there is an opportunity to chat and see what other people are doing. Recently we’ve had artists experimenting with everything from watercolours and mixed media to weaving”, she says.

Burbage Art Group, whose artists have often been recognised in the Buxton Fringe Awards and at exhibitions such as the Derbyshire Open, has members of all ages with the youngest being 21. Aspiring artists at any stage in life from students to retired people are most welcome.

Anyone wanting further information about the classes should contact Rachel Slaney on 01538 266220.
