Around the World in a Million Pixels

Want some travel inspiration?

Travel inspired artist, Susan Bedford, will be exhibiting work from five different continents in her forthcoming solo show in the Banks Mill Studios foyer.

‘Around the world in a million pixels’ is a solo show by Susan Bedford that will run from Wednesday 18th September to Sunday 6th October 2019.  Opening times are Monday to Friday 10am-3pm and Sundays 1-4pm.

The exhibition will include a collection of original mixed media textile artworks, alongside developmental studies and photography, inspired by extensive travel around the world.

Since 2016 Susan and her husband Kevin have lived a nomadic lifestyle, visiting familiar as well as more remote locations around the globe.  As a prolific photographer, Susan captures images during her travels to inspire her outcomes as a mixed media textile artist.

She creates disjointed, textural responses to her photographs that represent the divide between the digital and the real world.

The pixilation of subjects has become a key concept within Susan’s work.  She deconstructs her responses until the details, colours and textures take on an identity of their own and subsequently work in harmony when reconstructed.

Works on show will include original framed artworks, photographs and watercolour studies produced during her travels as well as a collection of photostitch originals.  Locations represented in the work include Scotland, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Vancouver, Alaska, Brazil, Galapagos, Papua New Guinea, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.  Susan will be in attendance each Sunday afternoon to talk about her travels and of course her artwork whilst working on some new pieces.
