‘Warm Wednesdays’ at The Whitworth, supported by Darley Dale Town Council, DFS and Age UK Derby & Derbyshire.

The Whitworth, in conjunction with Derbyshire County Council, Darley Dale Town Council, DFS and Age UK Derby and Derbyshire are delighted to announce the launch of Warm Wednesdays at The Whitworth. These organisations are working together, to provide a warm, welcoming environment to the local community. We are facing increasingly challenging times with the cost-of-living crisis where we are all seeing increasing costs.

With the cost of heating our homes significantly increasing, we want to offer an alternate option where the community can come together. Based in the beautiful setting of the Old Library at The Whitworth, located on the A6 in Darley Dale, we will have comfortable chairs, games to play, and newspapers and magazines for people to help themselves to. In addition to offering a warm, welcoming environment we hope that new friendships can be made. Tea and coffee will be available. There will be a volunteer available to talk to and socialise with, so nobody will end up sitting in the space alone!

Alan Long, Chair of The Whitworth Trust and Darley Dale Town Councillor said ‘we are delighted to be working with these organisations to offer a warm and welcoming space. We encourage people to make use of our beautiful venue. We hope that new friendships can be made during these challenging times we are all facing.’

Starting on Wednesday 2nd November 2022 and running until February 2023 the space will be available from 09:30 – 16:30. Should there be a demand, we will look to increasing the availability of the room.

The address of The Whitworth is
