‘Building his legacy’: Drystone launch the Mick Peat Drystone Bursary.

Following the sad loss of our dear friend and founding President Mick Peat, community arts enterprise Drystone are pleased to announce that "The Mick Peat Drystone Bursary" fund has been established in his memory.

The crowdfunder is aiming to initially raise £2,500 to seed the bursary, which will offer grants to encourage and facilitate creativity in all its forms and bring people together. The bursary will help to support a range of arts and artists, including young musicians; something Mick was passionate about and one of the reasons he helped to found Drystone.

The fundraising is supported by Mick’s family. His children Garry & Maxine, said “Dad would be chuffed to bits that his legacy continues to support this fantastic cause.”

Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse and Drystone’s patron said “[Mick] worked tirelessly to make a success of every concert we did, filled halls like no one else, ironed out this problem or that, made them go away. With Mick there we always went on stage in good heart, full of good cheer. But above all he was passionate about folk, folk people, folk song, the people and the music. What times he gave us.”

Mick’s name will never be forgotten, and it is fitting that his love for music and people will continue with this bursary in his name. Donating to the bursary is easy – just visit the website at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/mickpeat to contribute to building Mick Peat’s legacy for the next generation of creative artists.
