Woodland places have a continually changing presence. Seeds sprout, saplings grow, trees mature and live for fifity or a hundred or five hundred years. They eventually fall or are cut down, they rot back into the earth which bore them or are taken away for uses good, bad or indifferent. The individuals are lost but the woodland remains.
